Vancouver sports visitor guide
Vancouver is unusually easy for a visitor who wants to add professional sports to a city trip. Rogers Arena and BC Place sit beside each other in the downtown stadium district, while Nat Bailey Stadium is farther south beside Queen Elizabeth Park. The useful approach is to choose the team first, then build the neighbourhood and transportation plan around game time.
Major teams and where they play
Vancouver Canucks
NHL hockey at Rogers Arena. The 2026–27 regular-season home opener is October 1, 2026. Hockey season generally makes this the major fall-through-spring spectator option.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Major League Soccer at BC Place. Soccer is a strong spring-through-fall option and the downtown stadium location makes it easy to combine with sightseeing.

Canadian Football League games at BC Place. The 2026 home schedule runs through the warmer months into autumn.
Vancouver Canadians
Minor League Baseball at Nat Bailey Stadium. This is the city's more intimate summer baseball experience and feels very different from the large downtown venues.
The downtown stadium district
BC Place and Rogers Arena are beside Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain station. That means a game can be combined with Gastown, Chinatown, Yaletown or False Creek without moving a vehicle between each stop. Rogers Arena states that its underground public parking is not available during Canucks games, while BC Place recommends transit and notes that event parking in nearby lots can vary in price.
Ticket prices: use ranges carefully
Sports tickets use dynamic pricing, opponent demand, promotions and resale markets, so this guide does not promise a permanent dollar figure. Check the team's official ticket page first. Upper-level or promotional inventory is usually the budget starting point; premium seating, rivalry games, playoffs and hospitality products can cost many times more.
Families
BC Place says children two and under generally do not require a separate ticket for Whitecaps and BC Lions games if they do not need their own seat, although event-specific rules can change. For all venues, check bag, stroller, re-entry and child-ticket rules before leaving the hotel.
Transportation after the game
SkyTrain is usually the cleanest downtown option. A reserved vehicle is more useful when a group is coming from a distant municipality, entertaining clients, combining the event with a formal dinner or returning to a hotel outside central Vancouver. Game-day rule
Do not schedule dinner across the city one hour before the event. Eat in the stadium district, Gastown, Yaletown or Chinatown, then walk to the venue with time for security.
